I think for several reasons one being perhaps lack of unity amongst its people. Too much discrimination one way or another. People are first race, then social class then Americans.
Yes, lack of unity is probably and in my view the main culprit.

America is going downhill because of her citizens.
Of the people, by the people, and for the people will always go downhill when the people don't give a rat's a s s about anything other than their own pleasures.
Turn of the TV
Start giving a little
Stop harshing everyone who thinks differently from yourself
Don't vote your pocketbook
Stop worshipping the image in the mirror

Im an Aussie and the situation i detect humorous approximately u.s. is your human beings pick presidents... than some weeks later they're your worst enemies lol i are not getting it, why no longer merely pick somebody you will like for the long-term? To me, Obama seems doing great, alot extra advantageous than Bush thats for valuable. All i know is that i does no longer % to be residing in u.s., lots drama, lots violence and terrorism... it quite is all too lots. If merely the yankee women would desire to come to Australia and leave each and every thing in the back of, if Obama can supply up conflict he would desire to truly try this for me.

In my opinion-yes. America sorely lacks a sense of unity, which is important in a country to help it succeed and band together. Like another poster wrote--"we are race first," which is sad because regardless of your race and ethnic background you should be American first.
In addition, we regard ourselves too highly and are not proactive but rather reactive on things. It's bad now and it may get worse, but hopefully with good leadership and a unified front we can pull ourselves out of the hole we created.

I think it depends on how you look at things. America doesn't have to go down hill. Things are bad, but I am sure it could be a whole lot worse.

Morals have declined substantially. Accountability has declined substantially. Excuses have risen. Apathy has risen. Laying blame has risen. We are overly liberal, and as a result, overly permissive. Both Parents are working, and kids are raising kids.
BUT I STILL PREFER TO LIVE HERE OVER EVERYWHERE ON THIS PLANET.
We are not perfect indeed but, more and more people are coming here for all the good reasons. The biggest reason: FREEDOM.

Yes and it's because we keep electing Democrats and Republicans. No one person is responsible; ALL Americans have to accept the blame for this.

America is still a very young country compared to Europe and Asia, etc. We're going to be around for at least a thousand years if not longer. And-if you dont like it here-you know what you can do. Are you part of the problem or part of the solution?
