Christians should not be sucked into supporting this at all.
Even talking about it will raise curiosity & encourage it.
Make no mistake, this is a clever attack on Christianity.

Tell me this. How is thinking up a parallel universe and pushing the envelope a little in the process denounce Christianity? If that is the case, then the Inheritance Trilogy, the Lord of the Rings Trilogy, anything else to do with Middle Earth, Harry Potter, and the Kiesha'Ra series are guilty on all charges, as well as quite a number of others.
'Demon' means a completely different thing in The Golden Compass, which makes sense when you realize THAT NONE OF IT EXISTS AND NOBODY IS SAYING IT EXISTS.
See the movie. I promise it will be one of the most memorable you see all year, if not one of the best. I caught nothing in there that hints at denouncing God. It's no different then the witchcraft in Harry Potter.

Firstly, you should only see it if you want to, not what others say you should do.
Personally, the movie wasn't that great but, the books are amazing.
Yes, I know Philip Pullman is an atheist and dislikes Christianity but, if you look at the ending, the killing of God is actually the killing of a FAKE God.. a God that deceives people into thinking that he is all-powerful when in reality he isn't.
Many Christians are blowing this all out of proportion. I myself am a Christian but I know a movie cannot destroy my faith. I find it unbelievably hilarious actually.
I also find it funny that people who have NOT read the book are assuming and accusing the books of negative things because they heard rumours about it from someone else.

I say, follow your conscience. Philip Pulman was an outspoken athiest, and hated Christianity. I personally will not go see the movie because I'm a pretty black and white person. Right is right, wrong is wrong. I would not want my children to see this movie and gain an interest in reading the remaining books in the series by this author. I believe when children lose their faith it comes in small degrees. A little here, a little there. Who knows if this beautifully filmed movie with interesting characters, major movie stars and child appeal would end up tainting their belief in God. I heard, and assume it's true, that in the last book in the series Adam and Eve kill God.

Personally, I'm not going to. I can't tell you what you should do. If you read the books and didn't feel like there were anti-God themes in them, then I guess that's good for you. Now that you know that many are saying there are anti-God themes, then you may see the movie in a whole new light and see stuff where you didn't before. Then again, maybe you won't. I don't know you, so I can't really give you a recommendation.

There are so many things in this world that denounce God, it seems impossible to avoid them all. I actually just started the Golden Compass book, (haven't seen the movie) with the knowledge of it's background. If nothing else, I'll at least know what's in it and talk intelligently about the points it tries to make.

I've wondered the same thing. I think the movie looks really good, and I'm going to go see it.If you're Christian and you believe your religion is more important, than why would a movie(which isn't real) effect you?Keep in mind that a movie can't change your faith.

i don't care what it is approximately. i'm not likely to work out the action picture and then % to worship devil in my basement or substitute into an Atheist. If I see it i will take exhilaration in the entertainment fee and not care relating to the incentive of the e book. i don't care approximately faith in any respect, as long because it is not compelled on me. i'm a Christian.

you shouldn't feel you have to avoid things because you're a Christian. Keep your Christian principles intact and then make sure you do everything with integrity.
