I think Huckabee is a conservative evangelical Christian, but that doesn't mean he's stupid or easily lead. The AP recently printed his responses to a 1992 survey and he said he thought women should submit to their husbands and that gays should be quarantined away from others if they have AIDS (no mention of what should be done with heterosexual AIDS patients), and this was after the US government had made it clear about the ways AIDS can be transmitted.

I don't think Huckabee is stupid or easily led. He is like Reagan and Bush, only worse, if possible, on their social views. They're all educated and intelligent, but very stubborn. Ann Coulter on the other hand, is a shallow opportunist who will say anything to make a buck. She tells women to marry, have kids and stay at home, while she does none of it herself. Can you say hypocrite?

When you read the whole article, I have to say, that's some pretty sorry political dialog. It read more like some semi-drunk college kids getting together to rehash old jokes and amuse themselves. Then again, I've read dialog on NPR that's even sorrier than this.

I also love when Coulter was challenged about penalties for sodomy she totally retreated and changed topic. This is typical Coulter, say outrageous things to get attention, then she runs away when she her answers require facts or real policy statements. She's a very gutless analyst, a cheap shot artist really and if you read her carefully she never really sticks her neck out for anyone or anything. Her editorials are very "cut and run", when the chips are down.

That said, I think there is a definitive argument against Huckabee, it is that he is historically a tax-and-spend politician. I don't think this his position on what two consenting adults do in a bedroom is so horribly "liberal", more just a nod to respect for freedom in this country.

I like government out of my bedroom thank you very much, and I consider that to be a highly valuable conservative ideal. It's the liberals that like to pass legislation that define how have to live, and how you raise your family. Ann Coulter sounds more like a liberal all the time with "I want governments to ban this and this, with lots of laws that will cost taxpayers money".

Of course she's not really that serious, she never is. This is why I dislike Coulter, she turns conservatism into a clown show, a kind of comedic stunt, her intereviews are always about her saying outrageous things, then she cashes her easy money and then runs away from anything real.

She doesn't have half the spine of Rush or O'Reilly. She's never had it, she doesn't have the courage to stick to what she says.

"Oh I was just kidding," she'll say with a shrug, and then cash another check.

I agree Huckabee needs a closer look by Republicans. His fiscal record is terrible, but Coulters bizarre talk of "sodomy" and him being "easily led", seems more designed to get a cheap laugh or two, than really critisize him as a candidate.

She's a gutless commentator, and not really very conservative at all, she's a very "tax and spend" liberal when you get right down to it.

Not a big fan of hers, but Huckabee is not a good choice for the Reps.

Yep.

Saw her on H&C last night. Can we say "too much makeup"?

I found myself nauseated with myself when I had to agree with her that Huckleberry (says bad things about)"gays, and then backs down".

If Huckabee is that much of flaunting his religion he is in fact a politician with a past that CANNOT be trusted.
