I am 37 weeks 3 cm 60% effaced and at +2 station.... I know what your feeling. I get it all the time. Sometimes I think it's a contraction, so I get ready to time them, but then it stops. It could be braxton hicks maybe? I am also feeling pain "down there" my doc explained it's because our pelvis is spreading to get ready. If those rock hard feelings come in a pattern, I would go in if I were you, but ifyour only experiencing it every so often then I wouldnt worry too much. Goodluck and congrats

EDIT: You can stay at 4 cm for a few hours to an extra week, hospitals will only keep you if you are in active labor. Also most places you can get an epidural or some kind of pain meds until 8-9 cm....

Uncomfortable should be the new name for a womens final trimester of pregnancy. So it would be hard to say if your feeling is normal or not. I had this feeling for weeks prior to delivery. It felt and looked just rock soiled and it was sore as if it weighed a thousand pounds not the tightness of a BH contraction. Which could be all your experiencing too

Contractions are usually pretty noticeable, I had a huge fear that I wouldn't know when I was in labor because it was my first pregnancy. We had an hour drive to the hospital so any time something didn't feel right off we went.....Trust me YOU KNOW! Unless your one of the few like my mom who had no labor pains at all. But please believe me YOU SO KNOW when its a contraction and its a real one.

If its really concerning you just go get it looked at. After all you are at that point of any second now.....

When your stomach is hard and uncomfortable you are having a contraction. It is very likely you are in labor. Time from the start of your stomach going hard till the next time it goes hard. When it is about 5-6 minutes apart head to the hospital. Good luck.

It sounds to me like contractions. If you change positions and it doesn't go away, or you lay on your left side and it doesn't go away, it's probably contractions. Start timing them. If they're five minutes apart or less, head on into the hospital.

It is a contraction, thats why your stomach is rock hard. Braxton hicks can last forever.

Iam suprised you're 4cm already and theyre not keeping you. at 5cm you lose your window for medications like epis or spinals...

But anyway, it sounds like you're progressing right along.
