Use several softwares to clean and tweak your computer. Try to use CCleaner and Defraggler. They are both very reliable freeware. Use CCleaner to repair bad registries and disable some startup program, which might be a solution to the problem. Use Defraggler defragment your system so it will run faster. - http://www.piriform.com/products
It's not a virus, but it can be malwares. I also recommend you to use Spybot, - http://www.spybot.com/en/index.html, and Ad-Aware - http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/ they are malware, spyware and adware removal tools.

Hi Nenna,
I have norton on my computer and it's great for viruses but not so great for spyware. I had 5 spyware programs(that I could find, who knows if there's still more!) that got by Norton. I think the advice to buy separate spyware software is a good one. Either that or use mac or load linux onto your machine. I use WIndows Vista now and have not had a problem....yet.
Two things you can do if your computer has stopped working. Your first line of defense if the computer is new enough is to call technical support. If not then there's the Geek Squad. If the Geek Squad is too expensive what I would do is re-install the operating system. Your computer would have either come with a restore CD/DVD or partition on your hard drive. If your computer came with a CD/DVD you just need to install it before you turn off your computer and then power up the computer with the disk in the drive and the computer should boot off of the disk. If your computer has a partion for restoring then you need to tell the computer to boot off of this partion instead of where it normally boots.
I don't have time to finish this explanation right now as I'm at work but if you want to know more about this please ask a question about it and I'll describe it to you in more detail.

Mine did also.
It had a lot of things[ programs in it slowing it down bad]

I was told to get rid of a lot of things slowing it down.
But first run all your Anti-Spy and Anti- Virus
scans.
then look in the history for things you can remove from it.
also do a web search for this problem for step by step instructions on removing things that are slowing your Computer down like that.
