The city government has every right to bulldoze government owned buildings that are condemned. Did you actually read the story or did you stop at the headline?

Did you read the whole article? The part I found particularly insightful was the last two paragraphs. The part that explained what the project was all about, and why the buildings were being demolished.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with what they are doing. The buildings were condemned. Besides, that housing project (like most projects built before the 90's) are a breeding ground for crime and drug abuse. Simply the way in which they are constructed piles people on top of each other and makes it very hard for city officials to enforce laws. Many projects like that are being replaced with much nicer places, that more resemble apartment complexes. They are more humanitarian and safer.

Try to look past the sensationalized headline and try to understand what is actually going on....

Nobody is living there because they were condemned. From the sounds of it the place was junk before the hurricane and they were trying to tear it down then.

It looks like they are going to replace the low income housing project with mixed income housing. But that might bring in good people and lower crime. Who would want that?

Did you actually read this?
