I'm sure it's all down to intensive farming / slaughter and general animal abuse.
That's what you get when you buy cheap food in a competitive market.
I do like KFC, though only once in a blue moon, but I'm sure if I saw the abuse that goes on - I'd give it up.

They source their chicken from Intensively reared birds in broiler houses. They are force fed to maturity in 6 weeks, eating food full of artificial fats and additives; there are so many of them in these houses that they cannot move properly; therefore their bones don't develop properly are brittle and constantly break. These chickens also suffer from countless infections during their short lives so are full of antibiotics. Quite apart from the fats used in their cooking by KFC their fat content is extra high because of the way they are reared. To eat healthy chicken - healthy for them and you, go to a good supermarket and ensure you buy Organic Free Range Chicken. Its low in fat and has great flavour too and has been produced humanely.

All processed chicken foods like that are made by mechanically removing the meat from the carcass - I was once told by someone who worked in one of the factories that does this that the machines are pretty rough and bits of bones snap off frequently. He also would not eat any foods like this, ie chicken nuggets etc
