I have told someone I did not love them and then found out I did...much worse.

I fell in love with my son's father and told him I loved him quite often. I also told him I would never leave him for another man, and I didn't. I left him to his booze and dope. I realized that it was time to leave when I could care less if he came home or not. I had a 10 month old baby that I needed to take care of and could no longer be bothered with worrying about him and if he came home or not. I left. I wondered how I could have fallen for someone like him but he wasn't like that when I fell in love with him. Kind of sad when those deep feelings you had that ruled your life are no longer there. At least I had my son.

Once. I wanted it to work because he was really nice. Then one day I just decided I didnt even like him in that way. So I broke up with him and he was shattered, and I never though twice about it. I really felt sorry for him. I should not have said it to begin with.

No, but I have said it and knew that the love that I was talking about was not the same type of love that they were talking about.
So I felt ok, because it was not a lie..... :)
