The question I was given for my research paper was:
What do Cora and Alice suggest about the standards for womanhood developing in American culture as contrasted with those of European women?

I was thinking about talking about how Cora (being of partially of african descent / strong-headed = American view of womanhood) and Alice (being of mainly caucasian descent/ frail, timid = European view of womanhood)...but its really confusing to word all of it into a coherent, understandable thesis statement...and I'm not sure if I'm completely answering the question I was given.
Any help is great :-) thanks
