I was going to say no to shaking hands because: my husband and I were at a favorite local hangout today and the mistletoe was hung in the doorway entrance to/from the restrooms.

Let the kissing begin! I love kisses from my husband under the mistletoe. About the handshakes - I'd heard that too. Where I attend church the pastor asks everyone to greet visitors and shake hands. I've had a few people very firmly keep their hands down by their sides when I extended my own hand. Guess I looked germy! LOL

Sorry but what happens underneath the mistletoe, stays underneath the mistletoe.

Very true!
I know I have stopped shaking hands with the GREETER at the door in church, yet I do shake those around me during our service time of greeting... but then get out the hand cleaner!!!
Hey I am a nurse, I KNOW about GERMS!!!! And the hands ARE the biggest offenders!!!

If someone wanted to kiss me under the mistletoe, it would be in poor taste to offer my hand instead of my cheek. It is better to offer the side of your face, and kiss them on their cheek, or just kiss the air close to their face, and smile and wish them a happy new year, a merry christmas, or whatever nice things you would like to wish.

I wouldn't mind shaking hands with a beautiful woman under the mistletoe. But I would be shaking them over her head while my lips were locked onto hers!!!!

Shake hands? Oh, what a waste of good mistletoe! Down here (southern Tennessee) it's too hard to gather to let it be wasted on a handshake. We shoot it out of the treetops.
ahhh...ahhh..ATCHOOO! 'scuse me!

I don't touch anyone & I don't want them touching me. I hug only one person & they are by blood relative. All others are NOT welcome. People need to learn how to cough & sneeze in their sleeves or a hankerchief or tissue & stop using their hands to cover their mouths. It's a disgusting habit that spreads infection to other surfaces.

It has been well known for years that more germs are spread by the hands than any other way.
Just a simple ''Hello and happy holidays'' will do for me.
