I recently installed a new door on my home, that has a dead bolt and regular door knob assembly on the new door. I am trying to install a new storm door, but the door knob assembly on the storm door and the dead bolt assembly on the new door are clashing and will not let the storm door close. I know this is not a new problem, so would someone give me a solution?

You will need to move the storm door latch hardware to a location that dosent interfere with normal operation.

The correct way to install the storm door is to have the hinges on the same side as the lock of the house door. The storm door opens out. This way you have a weathertight combination. Of course, this presupposes there is sufficient room for the storm door to swing completely open.

certain storm doors are set up to be a RH or LH swing. If its clashing swap the door to swing the other way, isnt always the most appealing thing to do but will usually work, because the hardware will be at the opposite side of door hardware.

you can change either assembly to a thumb latch that may give enough clearance.
