Lets see, Walmart has a hat, gloves and scarf set for ladies for under $10.... then there's always a Mc D's gift card, it doesn't have to be a lot. OR, depending how much time and effort you want to put into it, run to the store get strong paper plates and those plastic knives and forks, and make food and bring it to them. Maybe you have friends or family that might want to get involved too. Hope the ideas help.

Not true...I don't care all year. Why should Christmas be different?

I wouldn't give cash because it would just end up going to support a crack habit or a bottle of Thunderbird. Same with gift certificates..they'll just sell them for money.

Go ahead and call me a cold hearted bastard, but I was an idealistic youth at one time too who wanted to help the homeless..after volunteering with social services when I was in college I realized only maybe 1/100 of the homeless folks I met were on skid row through no fault of their own.

Give your money to the SPCA instead...it's not a dog's fault he's in the pound.

Make a donation to a charity that helps the homeless or help out in a soup kitchen if you can. I think that's probably the best thing you can do for them this Christmas.

Sweaters that you can get from second hand store, blankets, fruit like apples and oranges, food that is easy to carry and doesn't perish(granola bars, etc), small traveling kits that contain small bottles of soap, toothpaste, toothbrush, and mouthwash. You have a really good heart may God bless you and your family this holiday season!

I think it's wonderful that you want to do this. Follow the best of the suggestions you've received here, and ignore the naysayers.

You might also call your local Salvation Army and ask for suggestions. Some of them might even have a homeless outreach.

Merry Christmas!

Many of the things they require can be purchased from the charity shops. Why not ask them what they want or even take them with you.

Kindness in action is a wonderful thing.
