Yea but don't some diapers have gels and such inside to absorb wetness?

YESSS! They expire whenever your little pooper fills it up! Hehe I had to go there! Don't worry about it. I have never checked the expiry date on pampers, sorry, and I have a 21 month old and an 8 month old.

Some valuable advice to you is to start out using Pamper Swaddlers, or Huggies. They both make newborn size that have the lowered waistband for the healing belly button.

Walgreens makes a really great brand of diapers that are green/ less harmful to the environment. They also have fewer dyes and perfumes that irritate sensitive skin.

Stock up on plenty of green diapers like that because you are going to be using a lot of them. Once your baby reaches about a year old, or when they start eating more solids, you will notice that they don't require to be changed as frequently. But for the first year you should plan to go through at least 5 diapers or more a day.

Also another great tip and an economical choice is to use off brand diapers in the day and Pamper/Huggies in the night as they are leak locks for sleepers. Because let's face it no one wants to be woken up for a diaper change when they are sleeping soundly. At least mine don't. I just put on the good ones at night and use the others the rest of the time. Also if the baby is in daycare, use a cheap brand there. Because daycares tend to go through a lot more diapers than when they are at home with mom. So cheaper diapers save the day. There is Whitecloud, Pure n Gentle, Parents Choice (though this one irritated my daughter), Target brand, and Walgreens. They make the cheapest about $6-7 for a pack.

LOL I hope not. We were out of diapers one time and had to stop at a small town drugstore. They obviously don't have people buying diapers very often because the package we picked up was like 10yrs old (seriously.... they had Barney on them) still had the sticky tabs instead of the Velcro like ones we use now. They worked just fine so I think ones from 2003 should still work just fine too.

I wouldn't think so. The worst I think would happen is the adhesive would be less sticky. You could always use diaper pins if you find that is the case.

Mostly what is in diapers is paper and that doesn't go bad.

No. "Disposable" diapers actually don't start to decompose for 500 Years.

Did you know that 50 million of these diapers, A DAY, end up in landfills and that's just the US?

There are now these diapers called G Diapers that you can buy and they aren't "disposable" but they aren't cloth either, but they provide parents with a more environmentally conscious option.

Check them out here: http://www.gdiapers.com/ .
