Well my colleges that i want to get into BADLY are:
1. Duke university
2. Johns Hopkins
3. MIT
4. Brown University
My stats..eh not so good. I have a 3.4 GPA Unweighted and a 5.1 weighted. Unfortuantley I have 2 D'S(eh i know) and 2 C's the D's are in history and the C's in english and history. I am majoring in Biology. I have mixed A's and B's...
I got 2120 on my SAT 34 on the ACT. 740 on SAT Biology and 760 on SAT Math Level II.
I am a researcher at Moffitt(it's a cancer hospital/research facility) conducting my project that I am entering in my school's science fair and also Intel STS and ISEF(i hope i get in!!)
I have a fairly strong science background as I've participated in science summer programs and whatnot.
How much will my D's and C's and B's....lol hurt me? What are my chances of getting in to each school?

The Cs wouldn't kill you, but those Ds are bad news. When did they happen? Freshman or sophomore year? If so, you can make a case that you've improved since then. When you started taking the subjects at the AP level? Use your optional essay to argue that you've adjusted and corrected your mistakes, as your good test scores show.

Of the schools on your list, I think you stand the strongest chance at Hopkins: there's very little in the way of distribution requirements, so the fact you're not as strong in subjects that don't interest you won't hurt you quite as badly. Brown also doesn't have a core curriculum; on the other hand, the Ivy status increases the competition. I don't have enough familiarity with Duke to handicap your chances there, but I think they'd want you to be more well-rounded. MIT would be a long shot, but don't feel too bad if it doesn't work out; it's a risk for just about everyone.

You have a strong chance of getting in. Have you made your list according to reaches, safeties, and 50/50? Some of your schools may surprisingly reject you, because they figure you are strong enough to get into a more "elite" school (I was rejected from a cal state, but got into George Washington!). Have you also made your list according to affordability? Your GPA is fine if you are not thinking of ivy league. Furthermore, after taking 3 AP courses per semester in my junior and senior years, and all honors courses, I can tell you AP is a waste of time. You take a course, and you MIGHT get credit IF you pass the exam with a score your university will accept. OR, you can go to community college, pass the course, and it counts regardless, as long as it is transferable! IF money is an issue, I would take courses at a community college that transfer over, and you can enter university with half your freshman year knocked off. In other words, in your second semester, you are a sophomore!

I'm afraid you will have a lot of trouble with any of these school with a 3.4 (no schools look at weighted GPA that I know of). These are extremely selective schools, which can get the "whole package", near-perfect grades, scores, and extracurriculars. There is never any harm in applying to a few schools you don't think you have a chance of getting into, but don't count on it. Having said that, there are a lot of schools which would be happy to have you with your test scores and rigorous class schedule. The problem is that the lower grades make it look like you didn't try too hard, since your test scores would suggest that you are capable of better.

There are a lot of things that go beyond ur grades including ur parents income (believe it or not) and your personal background. Your SAT's are awesome but your average is on the lower end for the 4 schools. I agree with some of the entries before me MIT is going to be really difficult, they accept about 10% of applicants. Not saying that you don't have a shot. The other three schools might be easier to get into depending on the major that you are applying for.

I hate to say this because you really do have excellent grades and a very good SAT score but for these certain colleges, I think you would need to have a Higher SAT score and GPA. There are plenty of other GREAT schools like University of Virginia (very hard to get into and prestigious but I think you could with what you have) Or Georgetown, Wake Forrest, University of Vermont, James Maddison and even Virgina Tech! I bet if you took the SAT one more time and scored a 2500 or higher you might have a chance getting into one of your "choice" schools.
I am a financial Aid Couselor at a Very good Private College so I know these things. STILL, APPLY TO ALL OF THE ONES YOU NAMED AND MAKE SURE YOU HAVE AN INTERVIEW THERE- a very good interview could really help you out! Good Luck!
And remember, even if you dont get into any of your "choice" schools at first- go to another one for your Freshman year and get perfect grades and you can apply to transfer for your sophmore year. Alot of people end up doing that!

id say ur best shots r johns hopkins and duke...but its gonna b hard. i applied 2 brown also and didnt get in. i have a 4.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) so thats pretty much straight As. my SAT was a 1230 (thats out of 1600). the Ds and Cs r not going 2 look good since most college really look at GPA as a way of predicting what kind of student u really r

MIT will be very difficult...practically impossible. Students who apply to MIT usually have straight A's and are still rejected.
The C's and D's are going to hurt you, and your SAT's should be higher.
Make sure your recommendations are impeccable, make sure your personal statements are clear, interesting and shows that you have innovative ideas.

Be realistic! Have some "safe" schools and a back up plan

MIT would be very difficult, as most of the kids that go there are the ones who get straight A's. and 36's on ACT. But the other ones, it sounds like you have a shot at.
