The correct answer is #3.
The Crab Nebula is a supernova remnant.
The Chinese witnessed this supernova on or about July 4, 1054 A.D. The explosion was so bright, it was visible during daylight!
Iron is forged in larger stars, and released into the surrounding space in a supernova.
I hope this helped!
Clear Skies!

3. Binary stars have nothing to do with supernovae. The other 3 answers do. Elements heavier than Iron had to be formed in a supernova just to exist here. Chinese records and the Crab nebula affirm a supernova explosion in our galaxy.
