Contrary to a previous answer, there is more contemporary writing about Jesus than there was even Napoleon.
I have never seen one (credible or otherwise) historian claim Josephus' writing were forgeries....and, no, posts on Y!A do not count in the least. The book I reference in the "Sources" section is written by a Chairman of Antiquities at Western Michigan University. I'll defer to his judgment on the creiblity of Josephus.
How about the Roman historian Pliny the Younger?
What about the Gospel Writers?
What about the early Christians that lived and worked with the Apostles?
There's plenty of contemporary writing about Jesus.
The question is, 2000 years later, will anybody remember of care about Bigfoot?

There's no real evidence of either one. Despite what some posters said, there is zero contemporaneous evidence that Jesus ever existed as a human being, certainly not as what his followers now claim he was. The best historical mention of him, which was a brief mention in Josephus, is now considered a forgery inserted many years later. Odd that a person who had such a big influence was not recorded by a civilization that kept such good records. The fact that the bible mentions things which are historically accurate does not mean that Jesus was also historical. Was Sherlock Holmes an historical figure, just because the details about London in the stories are accurate?
As for Bigfoot, it's all been shown to be phony.
Antioch, you need to study some more. Josephus' work which mentions Jesus has been disputed by scholars for about three hundred years now. If you know of nobody who disputes it, you don't know anything about it. And Pliny wasn't born until around 60CE, so his writings cannot be said to be contemporaneous. There are no writing outside of the Gospels from the followers of Jesus. Outside of the Gospels, there is nothing about him from around the time he is said to have lived. As to your Napoleon comparison, that is just ridiculous. Were you not aware that there were newspapers when napoleon ruled? Even without these daily reports of his activities, there is still a massive amount of information about him from the time he lived.

There is historical evidence from numerous sources that Jesus existed as a man, teacher and religious leader. These sources don't just include the Bible and the musing of Christians on evangelical TV and the pulpit. As the other writer said records from other non-christian contemporaries of Jesus, his disciples and other biblical figures records the events of the Bible as factual. Was he a miracle worker and the son of God? That is largely a matter of faith.
Bigfoot? Can't really see that such a large mammal exists in this modern age without being discovered, but the photo "evidence" is interesting. I am open to this being real.

Bigfoot. At least we have casts taken of his footprints and some grainy video for him. I'm still convinced it's a hoax however.
As for Jeebus, well, we have a book written 300 years after his death based on heresay evidence.
Bigfoot: 1
Jeebus: 0

actually Jesus. The Bible has been proven the most historically accurate book ever written. every time people go to prove that a biblical site didnt exist, they end up finding it. They find records of people, and events written in stone, recorded exactly as the bible proclaims... and this is all on the History channel, not the Evangelism Network or Bible Channel or whatever.
