I wind up behind one of the few people on the planet that cannot operate a bar code scanner. How impaired must one be to screw up this rudimentary maneuver?

This type of thing occurs specifically to provide entertainment for me, the person behind YOU in line. I get to watch the look of horror wash over your face as you realize that Front-of-the-Line Person truly is that incompetent, and that you must wait however many hours it's going to take them before they finally get it together and get out of your way.

And I try not to let you catch a glimpse of my amused grin... But being that I'M not the one in a hurry, and I can see how mortified you are at person #1's moronic efforts, it does tend to make me giggle a little. I apologize for laughing at your misfortune. :D

I use the self checkout lanes for getting my lunch break meals. The lines are short and move fast. Time is on our side when working, these help get through the long waiting lines of customers. They work and are convenient when purchasing a few items and in a hurry.

I am still chuckling over, "rudimentary maneuver"....haaa...

73% too, uh? See, you had all that time behind the "fool" to do some math. Just try to view it, as not the worse possible thing to happen in the world. Keep looking for that open lane!!!!

Its not just you. It seems to be that they all breed infront of these machines. Then they see someone come up who they think has an idea on how to run it and they jump in front of you and spend like 20 min on trying to find the scanner. Happens to me all the time.

how did you come up with that figure???? I've seen that many times- and I've been the "victim" of the scanner many times too. at wal mart, you have to touch the item to the end of the counter before bagging, and the machine keeps saying "unexpected item in bagging area"- yeah, like i wanna steal ketchup!

I Don't know go ask the cashier next time you are not in a self check aisle and see if they had to go to school to work there?

lol...somehow I always encounter the same problem. It never fails that always happens when I am in a hurry. Makes me just want to tell them to get the h e l l out of the way, and let me check out their stuff.

LOL...I know what you mean! I particularly hate the people who have a cartful of stuff instead of just a few items to scan. Then you have to wait for them to bag everything...and they usually screw that up too.

Kudos to your store for even having a self checkout that works properly.
