A month ago, a colleague who I had worked with for 18 years died suddenly without warning. He had reached the UK retirement age but becuase he wanted to work on after that date he was allowed. His pension was going to be poor and a little better by the time he reached 70.
Now he did not recieve his pension he worked in various jobs since the age of 14. So if you can retire early do so but make sure you get everything thats owed to you.

I would like to have the choice not to work till I retire but I am thankful that I only work part-time. As for ideas I don't know, I have thought of working from home and have done so in the past but it didn't pay enough for me. Good luck.

Yes, beats many of the alternatives! I HAVE retired, but I work part-time anyway. Why? I actually like working with people (most!) and you need to keep your mind working with more than reading, tv, etc. But, that's just my opinion of course. Try doing a job/career you would "like", even if you have to make some immediate sacrifices, I had to do that. Never know, if you don't try! :)

I'm not happy to work now, I hate my god damn job long hours, crappy pay, no time off, it BLOWS! I'm not working till I retire, I'll probably work till I'm dead cause this place is going to give me a heart attack at 30. One more year and me and my husband are having a baby if I have to, anything to get out of work LOL. That or you and i should get together and plot a big bank robbery or go mug some rich kids lol - dare to dream

I have been with the same company for 30 years and leave next month. I enjoyed my work for a long time but things have changed recently and I cant see how it is for the better.
So now looking forward to finding a new career hopefully something outdoors and to do with gardening.

Only option is to pile your cash into your pension fund. You either live like a hermit just now and enjoy it later. Or look for a better job and enjoy it now. Don't waste your life in some dead end job if you can do better get out and get hunting.

Work until you cannot. I had to retire due to ill health and I absolutely hate the thought of not working anymore...it unnerves me.
The solution for you maybe to work for yourself then you would have job satisfaction until you retire.
