It's an urban myth. Check out my link for more details. Basically it says, "As far as any serious scholar has been able to determine, NO EARLY FEMINIST DEMONSTRATION BURNED BRAS! The best guess is that images of draft card burning and images of women tossing bras into trash cans merged in many minds, and thus was created a vivid memory that just wasn't so."

That's largely an urban legend anyway. What actually happened was that the women threw their bras into trash cans during public demonstrations. Somehow, the practice of young men burning their draft cards during anti-war protests got linked to the women throwing their bras into the trash cans and now many people believe women burned their bras.

I guess after looking at all those hippie women with banana boobs hanging to their waists they figured they better keep their girls up instead of stepping on them. I hate my bra but it beats saggy flat boobs. Breastfeeding did a bad enough number on them and I need all the help I can get. Hell, I would so vote for bringing a corset back if I could get my waist line too. ;p I bought one and LOVE it.

Feminist found out it is not smart to burn their brassiers it is wasteful and irrelevant ,their competition of gender equal rights the Masculinist does not want to burned their Boxer shorts for the cause ,I will admit that the Masculinist is smart one for not burning underwears. I learned from them that I have to talk and be assertive to get my point on equal rights and not to burn my underwears.

They realized the environmental implications of the toxic gases the elastic material emits while being incinerated, and they can recycle the underwire for $$$$. Recycle your bras!!!

That fad only lasted until these bra-less gal's breasts were too sore to continue with the nonsense. The support was needed in many cases.
