I would give a lengthy description of where their charitable dollars go in my town. Unfortunately I am too busy, the organization I work for is actually helping people this holiday season.

I hate the ringing bells also but I know they are doing it for a good cause. The bell ringing is obnoxious. The other night I was at the grocery store and had to make a phone call and the lady continued to ring the bell right beside the pay phone when she saw I was on the phone. I thought that was really rude. She could have stopped long enough for me to make my call since I was not on there very long. My friend was with me and agreed that she was rude. I think they should do away with the ringing bells and just find another way to get people's attention or just ring the bell occasionally. I mean is it really necessary to ring it continuously till we want to scream. I try to donate to them anyway, despite my feelings because I know it's for a good cause.

You hate the bell ringers...that is just wrong! They are people just like you and I. They are there volunteering their time to help out a wonderful organization that provides many services to many different people. Our local Salvation Army provides meals, shelter, clothing, and even money to people in need. Whether it be someone who has lost their home to a fire, or someone who has lost their job due to company cut backs, the Salvation Army does a lot to help people in need. If it were not for the bell ringers during the holidays and the donations from several generous citizens the Salvation Army would not be able to provide these services. I myself have had the pleasure to be a "bell ringer", I was very proud to volunteer my time to help out. You should try it sometime...you might just have a change of heart. I certainly hope that you do not find yourself in need of assistance from the Salvation Army, but maybe you need to think of it that way instead of complaining about those annoying bells.
God bless and have a very Merry Christmas!
:-)

Not at all. I think you need to stop focusing on the little thing like the bell ringing and the bigger picture here. The people that are ringing the bells outside in the frigid cold, are doing something amazing. They're outside freezing trying to get people to donate so others that aren't so fortunate as some of us, can have nice things.

I went into a store in a strip mall where 2 of them from neighboring stores had met up between the stores for what seemed to be a smoke break but they never stopped ringing those wretched things. I don't donate anymore cause I don't carry much cash...don't they know ppl pay with plastic these days, hell even vending machines take plastic now.

I do not hate the bell ringers, I applaud them for donating their time to help others less fortunate. I put some change in their buckets every time I walk by, and I also am teaching my children to pitch in. Every bit of pocket change adds up to help people in desperate need.

It's annoying although this one year my brother and I went to Wal Mart and I had like $0.30 in change and I put it in the tin on my way out and the guy looks at my brother who has no intentions of giving up his precious money and says "Happy Hanukkah" oh it was great!!! I couldn't stop laughing!!!

I don't feel that way....but it does make me wonder how much they actually get by sending out all those people to sit there and ring bells for a donation....do they get alot of money or what? Do they get more by doing that? Hmmmmm...........

High pitched bells (and other noises) cause me actual pain due to an injury from an accidental firearm discharge years ago. It is impossible for me to reach into my pocket for money while both hands are covering my ears.

The non-stop ringing is annoying, but I often donate at least a bit of change when I can.
