I was just looking over different posts, one guy said his xbox broke 3 times, another 2 times, the ring of death. I really want to get xbox360 so I can get the extra missions for GTA4 but if it is just going to break all the time, it seems pointless to own it, escpially once the 3 year warranty is finished.

I've always wondered the same thing. I just wonder why so many Xbox 360 users keep the console when it just keeps dying over and over. When the 3 year warranty is over they will have to actually pay for repairs. Maybe by that time Microsoft will have fixed the problem 100% or there will be another Xbox console... who knows.

GTA 4 will most likely be better on the PS3 anyways. The extra missions won't make that much of a difference. Once Microsoft fixes the problem for sure then buy a 360, but until then don't buy a 360. It's just not worth it to buy something that has a 33% chance of dying. The only reason why people are still buying 360's is just for one game: Halo 3.

Mine has never broke in the year and a half that I've had it. I had a regular xbox before that and never had any problems with it. Maybe since you don't have a next-gen console yet you should just spend your time sucking balls? You must be some little rich kid since you just want a 360 for the extra missions in GTA4, which isn't even coming out really anytime soon. Even hardcore GTA fans that are on a PS3 wouldn't drop $300 just for a few missions. But yeah, my Xbox 360 must be extremely pointless since it has the best library of games out of all the consoles and the best online experience. And yeah, I don't mind paying $50 a year to play on xblive. At least our online gaming is monitored unlike the PS3 that just is a complete mess with no monitoring. But hey, you could always go play with a friends Wii. You'd probably enjoy that.

After having the Xbox for a year and a half it died. I had to send it in, so i was missing my xbox for a little over 3 weeks. Have gotten a refurbished one (with the new heat sink) and has worked for 4-5 months now (and I have played on it a lot for the last couple of months with Halo and Call of Duty 4).

The reason we keep doing it is because we are hooked to it. We have games that we want to keep playing and only the Xbox 360 offer them! Who knows what is going to happen after the 3 year warranty, I still got another year to figure that out. I do believe that my xbox 360 well go out again, but I'm thinking every year and half I can deal with!
I don' t think there is any data out that shows the 3RRD problem is slowing the sells of the Xbox 360!

If you take care of it it will be fine. If it is going to go then you should be fine with the 3 year warranties offered I am still playing on a first generation. I bought it the 2nd month it was out and couldn't be happier. Keep it well ventilated ....DO NOT PUT IT IN A TV STAND ETC KEEP IT OUT IN THE OPEN

Mine's been working fine for the 6+ months I've had it.

Don't forget that the new Falcon 360s should be much more reliable (although they haven't really been out long enough to tell for sure).

I have an Xbox 360 and it's still working just fine. If it ever breaks, I'll just buy a new one. PS3 and Wii don't suck. People who say they do, are immature and say so just because they only have enough money to buy one of those consoles.

has never broken for me and I have had it since the day it came out. People who have the red ring of death are dumb as*es who don't know how to manage their gaming sessions properly in order to not have it overheat. Its a good system you just need to place it in a proper place where there are no hazards to effect and to clean off the dust every once in a while. :) besides... Gears of War and Mass Effect make it totally worth it.
