A year after the French surrender and a year of Nazis occupation and life under the Vichy government did not make things 'hectic' in the summer of 1941. Americans did not have to lay low, unless they were obvious or outspoken Jews or enemies of the state. American businessmen and journalists were courted by the Nazis and fed the propaganda. There were no depravations or food shortages in France in '41. The years from the summer of 1940 to the summer of 1944 were years of relative peace and made the lives HEER leisurely, compared to the eastern front. The Gestapo only begain systematically rounding up the Jews after January 1942 (after the so-called Wansee Conference), but in the summer of '41 it was not the case.

Start again.

By July 1941 most Americans would have known France had surrendered.
American busnessmen in Paris would have had a relitively good life. Travel for them being easy.

However you are being asked to discribe what you saw.

A round up of Jews perhaps?

An early morning raid?
