WASHINGTON — The Lakota Indians, who gave the world legendary warriors Sitting Bull and Crazy Horse, have withdrawn from treaties with the United States.

"We are no longer citizens of the United States of America and all those who live in the five-state area that encompasses our country are free to join us,'' long-time Indian rights activist Russell Means said.

Lakota country includes parts of the states of Nebraska, South Dakota, North Dakota, Montana and Wyoming.

The new country would issue its own passports and driving licences, and living there would be tax-free - provided residents renounce their U.S. citizenship, Mr Means said. [/QUOTE]
SO do you thing GW Bush will stand for this? or will he call in the troups?

I dont know if it will work but they are serious...more from fox news...

A delegation of Lakota leaders has delivered a message to the State Department, and said they were unilaterally withdrawing from treaties they signed with the federal government of the U.S., some of them more than 150 years old.

The group also visited the Bolivian, Chilean, South African and Venezuelan embassies, and would continue on their diplomatic mission and take it overseas in the coming weeks and months.

Wow... this is an eye opener. I have no idea what Bush would do or the new president in 2009, but Im sure they wont let them.... especially taking over FOUR states. If both sides are persistant there will be fighting involved. Thats the only way to achieve "land and country". You have to fight for it, and they wont have a chance.

The only way i see this ending nicely is if they have new agreements, and the way the indians sound I doubt that will be easy as well.

** There Its edited :-) Thanks for the heads up!

Re: conflict - definite. All wars are economically high priced and detrimental. The question is not any count if the safety and stability features outweigh those expenses. Re: Outsourcing - Your selection is to permit outsourcing and notice some jobs circulate foreign places, or do no longer and watch as finished agencies grow to be uncompetitive and all the jobs circulate foreign places. think of intently, it fairly is a complicated selection. Re: The financial gadget in maximum situations - the three years previous the Republican takeover of congress observed a perfect Keynesian reaction to the financial downturn. extreme spending, low fees of activity. in basic terms like Keynes needed. Unemployment ROSE. Republicans then took over ONE homestead and disallowed further Keynesian reaction. The unemployment cost has all started creeping down, and maximum economists at the instant are predicting that a double-dip recession (which regarded inevitable earlier this three hundred and sixty 5 days) now look no longer likely. Do the mathematics. QE did no longer restoration something. the only good concern the Fed did replaced into the preliminary offering of money to alleviate the couple of minutes era liquidity disaster. each and every little thing it did after that has harm the financial gadget, no longer helped it.

Oh, the irony of the Lakota Souix demanding reparations from the United States.

Okay, yeah, sure let's give it to them. And then we shall take from them every scrap of land and make reparations for which THEY STOLE from their fellow native Americans. I'm sure the Blackfeet and Crow Indians would much appreciate being compensated for the atrocious treatment they received from the Lakota Souix!!!

What goes around comes around, folks. Some people really need to get over the fact that history isn't always fair...and sometimes the conquererers simply get conquered themselves. Russell means is not helping his people...he's only out for himself.
