I don't think there is anything wron with that, I have had those times myself. Just make sure you don't focus on what your are trying not to forget. There is nothing wrong with keeping up a bit of a shield to prevent being wronged by someone, you can always be friendly, but trust is something earned not something gained.
Merry Christmas and focus on the good in your life not the bad.

In some cases forgetting would be very foolish because it is a survival trait, so you don't land in the same situation again.
But carrying all that anger around over something that the other person has probably long forgotten is just wasting your energy. Let it go. You do not have to carry the can for them.

I think you are right. We forgive by letting the emotional part go, but we don't forget because of the lesson we learned. If you let the emotional part go (ie., getting angry at someone because they acted so stupid), you can recall the situation without getting upset. The memory reminds you what you learned, so you don't make the same mistake again!

What tosh.
Try it the other way around: 'I never forget, but I forgive,' which makes your forgiveness worth ...what? 'without any value.'
Question: What was so Important that you need to 'hang it out for the world to see your 'Victim' status?
If you are a Holocaust survivor, then understandable.... But! I suspect you enjoy the atmosphere you create, giving you that all so essential 'edge', man.

Yes, I think that you are correct.
We tend not to forget incidents or experiences which caused us emotional pain, regret and/or disappointment.
However, that doesn't mean that we will continually seek revenge. We need to remember those times when we felt that others didn't support us when we needed them.
It's a life lesson that we need to remember and accept as one of the constants in life. People will tend to let us down sometimes. We can choose to continue to reinforce that premise by remembering our own personal experiences.
But, we can also completely forgive them for their actions.

I don't think anybody ever really forgives anything. They might make their peace with it. But what the hell does forgiveness mean, actually? If somebody borrows money from you over and over and never pays you back, you can claim to forgive him/her for it, but sooner or laater you are going to quit lending him money, right?
It's the same with virtually all human interaction. And I've yet to shack witha woman that didn't keep a mental scorecard of your transgressions. Try to get THAT record expunged sometime.

truly forgiving someone means wiping the slate clean, that means you have to forget it, or you haven't forgiven anything. That is a huge burden you carry around with you, can't imagine why anyone would want to do that.

You're not wrong. You're tattoo says (to me) 'I don't bare grudges, I adjust my attitude and emotional investment.' Perhaps becoming indifferent towards the person or people involved. It doesn't suggest bitterness or not being able to relax and let go.
