I am currently renting. We have put in our notice and we are moving at the end of December. Our Landlord calls us about 4-6 hours before coming over to let us know she is going to show the home to preopective renters. Is there any legal time frame for the amount of notice that should be given from a landlord to a tenant? My lease only states that she has the right of entry during "reasonable" hours. It doesn't say anything about notice.

Also, can we refuse entry? Like with the holidays, can I tell her that she cannot show the home on Christmas and Christmas Eve?

Actually, Michigan does not have a statute regarding the notice for a landlord's right of entry.

Your lease will govern the landlord's right to enter. You agreed to entry at reasonable hours upon signing your lease.

You can ask for a 24 hour notice, but since the law is silent on the issue and it is addressed in your lease, you are kind of stuck with it.

Michigan is a 24 hour notice state. Your landlord needs to learn to provide more notice than she is providing.

Holidays are off limits. You are also permitted to deny his request.
