Fill the following out with the Postal Service....
This will forward your mail to your new address, but you'll need to contact all of your banks, schools, clubs, magazines, credit cards, etc. separately.
I just did it when I moved. There's always a few you forget about.

The Post Office has a form you can fill out. It will send your mail to the new address but you really need to contact your banks, school, anyone you owe money to so they can change it to the new address. The Post Office will only forward you mail for so long.

First, file a change of address order with the post office. You can get the form at any post office or do it on-line at https://moversguide.usps.com/?referral=USPS (on-line cost a $1)
You should also notify everyone you do business with such as banks, schools etc.
Welcome to Washington. The summer comes once a year here like everywhere else. Last year it was on a Tuesday :)

You can fill out a form on line via the USPS website that will take care of most stuff for at least three months. You should still contact all your credit cards, etc. to be sure they have the correct address.

Well first you have to go to the USPS website to get all of your mail forwarded to your new address. Then you actually do have to contact all the companies you have an account with(credit cards, banks, etc) and inform them of your new address. Additionaly, you also need to get a new drivers liscense and vehicle registration from your new state's DMV in order to drive legally and set up your new car insurance for your new state.

Post office has a great resource on that. Gives you change of address forms for a lot of purposes and a lot of information you might not think of.

You could have USPS forward mail sent to your old address, to your new.
But you still need to provide your new address to a bunch of people, especially official/important/business types, e.g. your bank, the Social Security Administration, the Selective Service if that applies to you, your insurance company, ... you know.
