Initial hearing means they are going to get some paperwork out of the way and spell out what you have done. Then they'll continue it for the next stage which is plea, determination and sentencing. They'll decide where you should stay while waiting for the next step. Sometimes the judge will accelerate the process and do it all in one day, but usually your lawyer will ask for time to plan a defense.
