It sounds like first degree (the red outline) with maybe a small region of 2nd or 3rd at the center.
If it is small, put ice on it for a while, then keep it clean so it doesn't get infected. Its going to hurt for a while and take a while to heal if the skin has to grow back from the edges. Iv'e had burns like that where you touch something that is so freekin hot there is no blister, the skin just vaporizes and leaves a white spot.
From my past experience:
Once I was forging a piece of iron bar and it slipped and I ended up grabbing it by the part that was orange-hot yeouch! Another time I spilled molten zinc on my hand, what a sting-fest (the piece hardened and fell off; it was a perfect mold of my skin, every little line and wrinkle! Iv'e also had burns like the one you described from soldering irons, molten solder from installing copper pipes etc. I never went to the hospital for any of these because they were small (less than about 1 inch across).

You basically seared the skin. It will heal in a short time and you do not have to go to the hospital unless it looks like it is getting infected.
I grabbed a hot grill that I didn't know was lit and seared all my finger tips. It hurt like hell for a day and then over the next couple of days the skin just hardened and the pain went away.
The white spot is cooked skin. No big deal unless it gets infected.

This is a superficial thickness burn. it pains more because the skin below it is alive(still has live nerve endings-a good sign. don't worry! you should have washed it thoroughly by now. apply some antiseptic cream if you have any or a moisturizer over it. will heal in 4-5 days but the pain will go in a day or two.

,Burn classification:
1st red skin, hot to touch like a sunburn
2nd, a little deeper, produces blisters
3rd, very deep involves underlying tissue beneath the skin
4th, burned deep, through tissue to the bone
Treatment:
NEVER apply ice or butter immediately, this can cause the burn to be worse, instead apply cool wet cloths if it is a small area, afterward cover with a burn ointment and dressing, keeping covered keeps air out and helps with pain.
Emergency burns: the very young or very old, large burn area, the face, genitalia or entire hand is burned, obvious second or third degree burn, you should call for an ambulance.

Probably a second degree burn. Not hospital stuff. The white portion is probably dead & will sluff off, but skin is remarkably renewable. It will heal with no scar.
Protect from air will reduce pain. Use butter or margarine.

Ouch!
I would say second degree at most. Put a good healthy coat of aloe gel or neosporin on it, then cover it with a bandaid. It will heal just fine.
Good luck!

Blistering indicates a 2nd degree burn. Apply ice and it should heal by itself.
