if so, what do you put in stockings besides candy?

No, not anymore. My parents used to when I was younger. I don't. Maybe when I have kids myself.

I would go ahead and fill them on xmas. Then you can save them for when you do see them. I don't know if they still believe in Santa, but you can tell them that Santa came to your house and left the stockings for them. You could add a note from Santa saying to hold the stockings till the children return. They will like the fact that Santa came for them even though they were not there.

Usually small toys like yoyos. I don't know about this year though. Me and my sister used to put cat food in our cat's stockings XD

I buy small gifts.......for my nieces it's lip gloss...perfume....small toys......

I also buy bigger gifts to place under the stockings that are unwrapped....like art sets....drafting boards....stuff like that.
