to open up your heart to a complete stranger than it is to your own family??

I have told some things to my online contacts that I have never told my own family. Not BAD things, but my feelings and my worries and stuff.

I think partially because it's completely anonymous. If you tell this stranger something, you don't have to worry that they're going to judge you. And, later if you regret opening up to them all you have to do is ignore them and not talk to them again.
I also think when you're talking to someone online, and writing everything you say, you have more time to explain yourself clearly. You can go back and read what you want to say, and edit it. You get your real feelings across.
And, I think a stranger online is a good sounding board. If something has been bothering you, the online friend can give you their opinion that is completely unbiased...they don't know you, or or your family or friends.

Because you cannot see the online contacts. You cannot hear what they say.
You can only see what they type and you feel that they will never tell anyone that you know because you feel that if your family members knew what you felt or worried about or anything personal about you that they would laugh or think you weak or not even care.
Then as you get mature you will wonder why your family doesn`t understand you.
Did you ever ask any family member what they thought of certain things and how they feel about certain things and what they worried about now or when younger?
You would be surprised by their answers I bet. They may be willing to talk to you about these things and clear up some communication problems you have.
Try it.

It's easier to tell people who have no faces what's going on. We don't judge (much) and we don't know anything else about you except what you tell us.

Telling family can be hard - you may be afraid that they'll laugh, they'll judge or that they'll be offended by something you say.

That one of the reasons that therapy works so well for some - telling a stranger your 'stuff' can be SO relieving!

tellingyour family about your feelings and worries
in not easy, far from being easy.
telling your concerns to an online contact you do not
have to worry or wonder what the family may think.
odds are anything you tell your online contacts will
never get back to your family.i hope this helps.

i supos its because you think that there is no way they could tell your family, i know what you mean, maybe its because as there online you dont have to meet them the next day or for the rest of your life you can just block them its the new way, and anyway if its something improtant you have to tell your family you should but like tell YA what the situation is, theres so much this site can do for you and i feels good to help people :¬)

Because the strangers won't take things the wrong way.

They won't later nag you about things.

The things aren't about them.

Because when you're typing into a screen, you don't entirely realize you're communicating with another human being.

But, maybe, after saying things to strangers, you can think about saying them to the people physically in your life.

People feel more secure in anonymity than they are to familiar faces. Being familiar with someone a person knows the type of personality that they are and a lot of times they get more cautious.

Because your family has a tendency to judge you as a first reaction. I can tell my best friend anything, I know she won't judge me, and I trust her. She trusts me with her deepest darkest secrets as well. Your family always tries to do something about it when you tell them you are worried about something, or when you tell them your feelings. That is usually not the best thing to do.

Good luck to you

Because it is easy to walk away from people online. It is easy not to care what they think. You don't have to look them in the face if you disappoint them. You can cry your heart out and not care if they judge you. I know from experience.
