A Moonscope by the now out of business harmonic reed company. See the first source.

If you are shopping I recommend the bigger and better modern telescope in the second source. I never used on of those, but Sky and Telescope gave it a good review.

My first scope was an Edmund Scientific "Palomar Jr." 4.25" f/10 Newtonian, which I bought in 1957. I gave it to my club for use as a loaner when I got a better scope, but a few years ago, I traded them a new scope for it, and so now I have my old buddy back.

A Parks 10" Newtonian reflector, which I still own 22 years later. Fine instrument. Parks optical.com should get you there, or scopecity.com. Still in business. Great folks.

My very first, when I was a kid, was a spotting scope that was way more interesting to look at the sky with. No idea who made it. I think they were embarrassed to put their name on it. But I saw neat stuff with it.

My first "adult" scope was an Antares (i.e Synta) reflector.

A 70mm Tasco type refractor in a nice felt lined wooden box. It had chrome ALT AZ adjusters!!!!

Now that was back in about 1958. :)

Can't really remember ??? but I think my parents bought it at Sears.
