In this we shouldnt care. These men saved lives. This is what Democrats do best. Investigation, Investigation.ect... Keeps them from making and working on the real issues and the tough issues. The far left, move on . org. may dissappear otherwise.

I have no issue with the fact that these tapes were Top Secret and not available to the public. What I have a problem with is that they were destroyed in the middle of a huge debate on the use of torture by our government. There are countless top secret documents and tapes in the possession of the CIA that would probably be far more damaging to the identities of CIA agents if they were taken. But the CIA uses that excuse for tapes showing possible torture by our Government? I see absolutely no reason to believe this was anything but a cover-up.

For the same reason we should care about anything else our government tells us - or doesn't tell us. "We the people" are supposed to be the ones in charge here, not the government. Elected officials, government bureaucrats, and high-and-mighty government employees are supposed to be subservient to US.
If you "don't care" that CIA tapes are not available to the public, then it's a quick transition to not caring whether or not George W. Bush has repealed the Posse Comitatus Act of 1879, which allows him to declare martial law without the consent of Congress or the knowledge of the American people (which, by the way, Bush has done).
If "we the people" don't demand total integrity, honesty and efficiency from our government, "we the people" will sooner - rather than later - become slaves to a totalitarian dictatorship where freedom is abolished and rights are taken away. Would you prefer to live like that? I think not. -RKO- 12/20/07

There was a point in time, say well over 100 years ago, when the people of the several States were active participants in their government. After all, as the Founders designed it, We the People were the government.
Read your own State constitution. Either in Article I or Article II it will say that the People have all the political power. But we have since given it up to the international bankers (the Federal Reserve) and their lackeys in Washington do their bidding, not ours.
We should care about many important things, but we're too preoccupied with the trivial. The bible says we suffer for our lack of knowledge and my guess is it can only get worse.

you should care about how the government is conducting itself, after all they work for you don't they? all you have is their word that those tortured are terrorists, the word is being applied to people who disagree with government or have a different religion and not because they are a threat in any way. can you actually trust any government that is so full of lies, deceptions and crimes that they wouldnt' torture innocents? after all they are killing inoccents right now in iraq.
and next time you might be declared a terrorist because of something you said, yoru religion, or race or backround or some petty crimes you may have commited somewhere.
war on terror is a very cruel hoax being played out for the sake of power. pure and simple. It is a shame that many who are innocent aer being kidnapped, imprisoned and tortured simply to keep the facade of terrorism alive in peoples' minds. to keep it seemingly real. those inncocents lives are totally ruined forever. there are really crazy people out there that do harmful things, like arsonists and murderers etc, but that doesn't justify all the horrors going on with fighting it. if someone commits a murder you deal with it in the courts, but you don't imprison someone because he might commit a crime, if that is the case we should all be in jail as all humans are capable of commiting crimes under the right circumstances. all humans are corruptible. now whether some people choose to fight such tendencies or don't cultivate a desire to or stands for right no matter what is a choice made thus being capable of being corrupted doesn't mean one will be.

It's small-ball stuff. The White House had nothing to do with it and essentially a high ranking official at CIA made a reasonable decision that can be argued either way. It's not as if there is some huge issue here or a grand scheme to cover something up.

I think the real issue is why is this administration breaking laws that would get any other citizen lockup up for a very long time and constantly lying about i there activities? Aren't they suppose to defend the constitution? They do stuff that is obviously stupid and embarrassing and try to hide it behind "national security." They need to just use some common sense and start behaving like patriots instead of small children.

But why would they destroy tapes, they say that they don't torture? They are all liars about to be caught, we should all be concerned about this. Just like the "few bad apples" at Abu Grabe, you can't be that naive.

I don't need that knowledge, but they should be made available for investigating wrongdoing, or the indication of it.
