I signed up for a Blockbuster on-line account in August of 2006. I was to receive 3 rentals at a time for $19.16 (with tax) a month, then in August, they raised it to $26.61 (with tax). Now, I receive a notice that they are going to raise it again to $37.26 (with tax) effective the next billing cycle.
The rate at which I receive movies is steadily declining - in the last 2 months, I average getting 3 movies or less a week. Does anyone else find this appaling that they have doubled their rates for declining service? Will you join me in boycotting their services, both on-line and in store?

By the way, Netflix is offering the same deal for $18.12 (with tax). And they have a larger selection. I re-signed up for it this morning. I had cancled it, but I am going back to a company that knows how to treat it's customers

At $4.25 a movie, it is NOT cheaper to go and rent movies at Blockbuster. With Netflix prices and delivery schedule I can get 3-9 a week for $18 a month. When I had them before, I averaged 7 movies aweek from them.

yeah stick with netflix.....i stopped blockbuster along time ago. in store and online. they kept sending me scratched dvd's and i couldnt watch em. then the frickers charge me 20 bucks because they said " i didnt return the movie on time before i canceled" which is bs because i canceled 2 days after i sent the movie back. oh and dont even get me started on the freakin-a** store.

yeah i am extremely bitter towards that company.

Have a great day!!!!

I signed up for Blockbuster Online to get a certain movie I wanted to see that wasn't in the stores. I put it at the top of my cue, filled my cue with some others, and they never sent it. Kept sending me stuff from way down on the list. Finally I started pestering them via e-mail. They kept sending free in store rental coupons. I got 10 or so by the time all was said and done. Then they finally called me from corporate to say that because the movie was "Available" but not in the distribution center nearest me, I would never get it. I started spreading the word online, canceled my account, they again sent me free coupons. And surprise! After I canceled, they sent the movie as my last one! Lots more to the story, it really was worse than that in person.

So, anyway, I've been boycotting them since that whole lack of customer service mess. If I go back to online rental it will be Netflix - who served us very well when we had them, and sent from the top of my cue even if it came from a distrib in Hawaii!

Where do you live? My grandsons Blockbuster account is $19.47 a month, there has been no mention of it increasing. My Netflix account is $18.39 a month. These include California taxes. Both have their benefits. With Netflix I like to be able to watch movies online. my grandson can take his movies to the store and get free rentals and they mail the movies back for him. He also get one free movie or game rental a month.

Switch to Netflix. I've had them for some time now and they've NEVER raised their rate on me. In fact they even LOWERED my monthly rate recently. Blockbuster sucks.

you do realize it's cheaper for you to actually go to the store and rent them there - and i've just got word the other day in a international conference call that BB in the US is doing poorly with its online rentals which is why they'll never bring it to Canada
