Depends on your belief system when it comes to our current Government. I believe this cartoon to be off base because President Bush has been pushing Pelosi to get her group in order. Separate the bills and send up one without all the pork barrel special interest garbage. Well, as usual Congress played the day before holiday pass this politicians are famous for with no time for debate or the troops would be neglected. Some Christmas card to our brave soldiers. The bill included over 9,000 additional spending over 17 million dollars worth to the thing.

The cartoon implies a false truth. Because in reality it is Congress, the Senate & those who have been ignoring the soldiers. Not the Commander-in-Chief. Political satirist. They make alot of money hawking these. Thanks, that is just my take on it. Happy holidaze.

Those establishing, creating and implementing strategy are non-combatants and know zilch about what should or needs to be done. The EXPERT -- guy in the trenches sits out there trying to get their attention with helpful input. That's par for the course. Every war lost and strategy gone wrong has been cooked up by civilians. The EXPERTS such as General MacArthur, General Patton, General Westmoreland were either fired by the President or recalled back to the homeland and given functionary roles and eventually removed from military power. All their academy training in war strategy was ignored by those in power (civilians). Every war we have won has been won when it INCLUDED the military as part of the strategy partnership. Every war or engagement we have lost was because the military was not consulted or included in the strategy partnership.

The people of the Bush Administration are gathered in the war room over a strategy map but the strategy never seems to get to the ground pounders in the field. The poor soldier is left to fend for himself because the Administration does not, has not, and never will have a strategy plan for Iraq.

It points out that most of the positions taken in U.S. politics with respect to the war ignore military realities and concern themselves with the effect of the war on political maneuvers.

That's been true all along. This war was entered into solely for the sake of domestic politics. That's why the WMD lies were invented; the reality wouldn't have justified it.

It alleges that everyone in Washington is more interested in playing politics than in winning the war.

I believe that this is an accurate description of the Democrats, but not of the Bush administration. But he has to deal with the Democrats in Congress, and so is dragged into the mud also.

Basically it's saying that the folks who aren't really doing any of the fighting are ignoring the requests of the Generals and Commanders on the ground. The troops know best what they need to be victorious, so we have to supply them with it. The best way to do this is BI-Partisan politics.

Too funny!
This cartoonist is pointing out that politicans are determining the US Strategy in Iraq, rather than letting the commanders on the ground make the calls. This is the same, exact thing that happened with Viet Nam. It would appear neither party, in all their self-righteousness, have learned from the mistakes of Viet Nam.

This is funny.

I needed the lift. Thanks!!

The cartoon showes politicians at one table talking statagy while a soldier is sitting by himself. They are not listening to the Soldiers stratagy because that would make sence. Being military I got a chuckle out of this. Thanks for the laugh and have a great day!

Sure...

Basically, you have a lot of politicians deciding what the policy should be for fighting Iraq, and the guy who is actually doing the fighting, the soldier, is left out of the discussion.

The cartoon is not exactly accurate. I think Bush has spent a lot of time talking to the commanders in Iraq, and asking them for recommendations.

Some fool thinks McCain is going to win . Obama can get the votes but McCain wants the states back when he supposedly wins so he can send the young people from those states off to war
