They said women and children first. But then they supposedly kept the 3rd class passengers locked down there until the 1st and second class was through being placed in lifeboats. Can anyone send me any proof of this? maybe not proof but a website or two talking about it?

This page has a "Demographics of the Lifeboats table" that you might find useful.

The women and children first policy kept most of the men on the ship from boarding the lifeboats. The first class women and children got to board the lifeboats first, followed by the second class, then third class.

I cannot tell you if they kept them locked up until everyone from the first and second classes were on lifeboats, but I will say that the majority of third class passengers were not fluent in English and had a hard time navigating the ship. Also, the lifeboats were not loaded to capacity, so that would account for more lives lost than necessary. Check out the website I have provided in order to do more research on the subject.

oh right, i dont know.

I think it was women and children first, and the wealthy got put on the boats first. poorer classes got on last if they were lucky or got left on the ship.
