There is a need to mass grow fruits and veggies, Plus when you buy these items you do not need to keep growing them (as they are picked) . You can grow house plants in hydrponics, but giving that you are not trying to yeild anything other than a flower it would be going a bit overboard

Probably because people are concerned about what they eat and are often willing to pay a premium price for what they think might be safer.With house plants,there is no such concern,so a premium price is not available.Growers then choose the most ecomical way of growing plants.

Hydro-planting is done as an agricultural alternative.
House plants most of us have are tropical plants that thrive in the tropics because of rich soil and ideal moisture conditions. When we bring them into our homes, we try to simulate the natural growing conditions as best we can. Most tropical plants do best when their feet get a chance to be warm and moist--not have their roots standing in water.
