I'm a bit confused by your question......

When you say....
"Until I can go out and buy a proper wall tile cutter"

The answer would be a simple Hand Tool. This can be brought for as little as £1, maybe less.
But you've said that you want to use something in place of a hand tool........

The simple hand tool that I refer to is about the size and shape of a pencil. The metal/steel that this is made from is much harder than a nail.

Do the job properly, with the correct tools. And it will be something to be proud of...

Personally, I use a 4in grinder for most wall tiles. And have done for 30 odd years.

Well I'm in engineering trade, and the perfect thing I used was a small carbide-tipped lathe tool, got loads in my garage.

Really does the job first class.

Maybe if you had a Dremel tool or a small grinder with a cutting disc?
