I don't understand how they are used. can anyone tell me. I've heard that you can use them just like a normal convection oven, or switch them over and use them as a microwave. Is that true? If it is, when they are used as a convection oven, do they still have the radiation like a microwave? Thanks in advance

Yes! All of the above is correct; as you so eloquently stated. The new ovens have not yet been tested for Cancer Defects in human beings yet though. It may take several years, if not Decades, in order to accomplish that task. The reason being; the Federal Government is just too slow in testing for health and safety issues right now. Plus, no Americans want those kinds of jobs; thus, the Feds go outside for outsourcing. My suggestion to you would be . . . Don't worry about it. If you want one of those new toys for Christmas; just go and do it. . . . I'm sure that they come in a variety of colors that will brighten up any kitchen decor. By the time you come down with Hodgkin's Non-Hodgkin's or whatever, the tests will be be completed by the Chinese, the Bombay Indians, and possibly even the Vietnamese . . . But then again, who knows? What would you be expecting anyway? . . . Acupuncture????

Convection/Microwave ovens have been around for a long time.

No the Convection part does not use microwaves to cook with. It's regular heat. But with fans to blow the heat around the interior. Which cause the cooking to be faster than in a regular oven. And items that need to be crisper than microwaving can be.

Microwave/Convection ovens aren't new. We had one in the 80s. Yes, they switch totally from one mode to the other. You have to be really careful that you have the switch on the right setting. Other than that, we really liked ours and didn't use a regular oven for years.
