Go to Best Buy and buy a program called PodMaxx for about $20. It does everything for you. You just put in the disk, click a few buttons, and your finished. It even handles any piracy issues as well.

It's very difficult to do without the right software. Honestly, if you're fairly unfamiliar with computers, it's probably easiest to just into the iTunes store and buy videos from there. While it's not fun to buy the videos twice, getting video from a DVD is very difficult. Using iTunes:

-Go to the iTunes store and click on "Movies" on the left side.
-Find a movie you want
-If you haven't created a profile with Apple, you will need to do that.
-Buy and allow the video to download (note: if you're on dial up or a slow connection, this could take a long time)
-Sync your iPod.

If you really want to "rip" the video to your iPod, you'll need specialized software to overwrite the DVD's built in copyright protection. You'll also need a program that can compress the DVD files into an MPEG-4 format. Essentially, it's a very long and time consuming process that requires an additional investment in software that you may not understand to do something that is borderline illegal.

So, ideally, I would just buy videos from the iTunes store, unless you have a very good reason to pursue another means.

You need to convert anything movies wise, if its a movie like an, avi, mpg or any else of the common files. Ipod format is called MP4 (Mpeg4).

Use this program, called Videora Ipod Converter its free and simple. You can convert DVD, Youtube and movies.

Basically your going to need to rip the DVD then convert that into a movie file then that into MP4.

Once converted its puts it automatically into itunes ready for you to watch it or put on your ipod.

Done this with Ipod Touch works very well.

Tricky, use DVD DECRYPTER to do this and then WINAVI Converter to convert from .vob (DVD File Format) to avi.

Hope that works.
