I would check out www.collegeboard.com

The site allows you to personalize your sarch for a school. now as far as scholarship opportunities, I would view their financial aid website. many list all their scholarships, the requirements and if they are unlimited in quantity or if they only award a select few.

We would need a lot more information from you - what are your qualifications, your interests? Most schools don't have "plenty of" scholarship opportunities (only about 2% of students are on scholarships), especially affordable ones, I'm afraid. Still, students get financial aid packages that allow them to be able to go, even if they can't pay for the college with cash. Also, the price range you mention may not be easy to find, because while plenty of in-state tuitions fall within that range, out-of-state tuition can be a lot higher.

You might want to look on the College Board's website. They have a College Matchmaker feature which allows you to feed in your qualifications and preferences, and it will tell you which of the colleges that meet your needs you might be eligible for.

Most colleges offer a lot of financial aid and scholarships. Amherst College in particular.
Here is a list of the cheapest colleges: http://www.campusgrotto.com/cheap-colleges.html
The really good ones on there include UVA, College of William and Mary, and UNC Chapel Hill.
I think this site would be really helpful: http://www.kiplinger.com/tools/colleges_upd/pubcollege.php?sortby=INRANK04&orderby=flip&states%5B%5D=ALL&myschool%5B%5D=none&outputby=table
The good schools on the list are the ones I already mentioned, but also UConn, Rutgers, UCLA, and UC Berkeley.
