Hi there,

Christmas cactus is one of the easiest holiday plants to care for. Lasting longer than the classic holiday poinsettia, christmas cactus blooms come in a wide array of colors ranging from hot pink, white, lavender, yellow, salmon, red, and light pink to name a few. They require bright indirect light and warm temperatures in the 70's with regular waterings to thrive. I currently own over a dozen different christmas cactus plants that have been alive for over 10 years. They are very easy to propagate should you want to give some to friends and family as gifts. Just snip off a 2-3 inch segment of the cactus and let the cut end dry overnight. Plant in well drained sand/potting soil mix and soon the ends will root in a few weeks. When the temperatures start dipping in the fall, the plants are triggered to start their bloom cycle. Mine decorate the house from the months of November through the end of January.

Good luck!

Not sure what you are looking for. Cactus become dormant in the winter, except in the desert. If it rains in the desert, they will absorb as much water as they can.
