It will get worse before it gets better. It takes at least 6-12 months to go down. If you have any fears about it, go back to the doctor, they wil tell you what is normal & what is not.

It sounds like the scar tissue has become Hypertropic. It will soften and flatten over time. You may have been more active and strained the incision to cause the Hypertropic scaring to happen.

My husband had open heart surgery and tried picking something up in his pickup bed and strained the incision. His surgeon said he should be able to pick up anything within the weight of this particular item. However this action strained his incision and the bottom half of his incision raised and was hard for awhile then softened and flattened out over time. The top part of his incision is still nice and fine.

If the Hypertropic scar bothers you; you can have it revised through a plastic surgeon. Until then if the incision is healed get some Maderma or silicone sheets at the drug store to apply to your incision these medication have proven to soften and flatten Hypertropic Scars.

My scar has looked like a worm from day one. It sticks out and gets itchy. I had my c-section 8 years ago. It took about 4 years to even start fading in colour and for the itching to reduce. It's still bulging out though, not as bad as in the first few years. If yours is actually sticking out an inch to an inch and a half I would check with the doctor, that's a pretty big bulge.

My 4th child was a c-section. I don't remember the incision bulging outward. I had a hard knot on my right side. I went to the doctor. He said it was normal. It was a pool of blood under the incision. He said it would go away or reabsorb in my body and it did. If you have any concerns I would go to the doctor.

I think it is normal for a scar to bulge some, but you should call your doctor to make sure.

yes its normal, the hard bulging part of it is scar tissue underneath which is healing, the irritating, itchyness is a good sign all is well and healing nicely. if its red and weeping then i wud go to your doctor to rule out infection. but to me this sounds very normal. :)

CALL your Doctor. No that is not normal....I've had 3 c-sections and my scar has never "bulged" or been "hard".

Tis normal. That is scar tissue. It will dissipate in time (6 months it either will be all gone or alot less).
