Find a local person in town that sells Worm Compost....or do a search and have it mailed to you....Also, if you use a Landscapers Blend to mix well with your desert dirt. then buy Red Wiggler worms and spread them out on your new blended lawn area. This will give you the absolute best soil in the world for planting everything. AND you do have to have a regular watering schedule or your worms will shrivel and die. Too much water and they come to the surface and some drown....they like it just moist.

Oh, please DON'T plant grass. It needs tons of water, and often, fertilizer - which desert soil doesn't hold well, and it will end up polluting the ground water.

Please consider planting things that naturally do well in arid environments. See your nusery, talk to area gardeners - you'll learn about what does well in your area. Or look up info on "Xeriscape", which is the word for plantings in very dry environments.
