are you sure you want to try this? i would not try it unless you are extremely confident in your abilities. that glass must withstand enormous pressure. the same goes fr the stand, which must be able to constantly support 2 tons (possibly more). however, if you go through with it, SwEeT! and with a nice wide tank, you have lots of options. id go with a silver arowana, a motoro stingray, and 3 datnoids. however, thats one of a huge amount of options! good luck and have fun!

Sounds like a great tank for some of the freshwater rays from the Amazon. There are several species of these animals and some are colorful (well, not gaudy). The hobby is just now learning to propagate these fish and the available information is growing with regularity. The substrate for these guys should be a very fine sand,so you are right on track. You can follow up, after establishing your rays, with some of the mid-water fishes to add activity and flash to your display.
The year that you have would be well spent looking for sources of information about these rays,it's out there, but you'll have to locate people, more than books, because this is "cutting edge" stuff.

Wow, that's a big tank--super jealous. You should do A TON of african cichlids--they come in tons of different colors and range from 4-12 inches..they all have different personalities and I love all the ones we have.. it would be the sweetest tank ever
