My husband and I are trying to conceive, I have been in contact with my doctor because I have irregular periods so she told me when to try to conceive. We're at that point now, do you think it's ok to try once a night? I've heard about the sperm count being lower after each time but is once a night ok?

➔ Trying to Conceive
It's not that we do not enjoy having sex, we love doing it, I've just read alot about the sperm count being lower each time so that is why I said once a night.

yes. sex once a day should be fine. i wouldn't do it as much as possible like some people responded. give your hubby's army men time to build up. i am ttc and my hubby and i have sex once a day. usually at night so i can lay down with a pillow under my butt and watch my nightly shows. good luck!

Sounds like a great thing to do every day but try to keep sex fun when you're trying to conceive. Use rooms other than the bedroom or schedule your babymaking rendezvous for an odd time of day. The rationale? You won't be able to keep up the babymaking pace for very long if sex starts feeling like a chore.
Don't hop up and run to the bathroom right after you make love. Lying down for at least a few minutes (some fertility experts say five minutes) after intercourse increases the odds that the sperm will be able to keep their date with the awaiting egg and that you'll win at baby roulette.
Make love often during your fertile period (the five days leading up to ovulation). If you've got the stamina to make love at least every 48 hours, you will ensure that there's a fresh shipment of sperm waiting in the fallopian tube at any given time.
Of course, you can get too much of a good thing if your partner has a low sperm count,

You're trading off a lower sperm count vs. a better chance of hitting your cycle right after ovulation. There's a slightly better chance of conceiving on the "one a day" plan.
If your husband has a naturally low sperm count, that might be a factor. But if he's normal, or you have no reason to suspect that he isn't, then enjoy each others company tonight and every night until your doctor tells you to stop.
For what it's worth, my wife and I went once every three days and conceived our daughter in about a month. But if I had to do it over again, I'd suggest we try more often.

Once a day is fine. Temperature is a big factor in trying to conceive as well. The warmer the bed during sex the more sperm produced because the blood is pumping more oxygen to the testicles. Between 78 and 83F is recommended. Also(for the female)lifting your hips higher so the uterus is at a more direct angle will help too. Good luck! I'm certain you will have a beautiful child.

WOW. Well I'll bet your husband thinks it is. You are right about the sperm count. I would suggest that you get an ovulation kit at your pharmacy. I believe there is a three day window. But that is not written in stone. It occurs around 13, 14, or 15 days before your next period. Good Luck.

Yup if you're trying to get pregnant, the ONLY option is SEX. So have sex many times a day. Sperm is Sperm. There's atleast 10,000 sperm in a mans semen when he ejaculates. That's plenty enough to get you pregnant so dont worry about sperm count. Just do it!

Once is good, but if you can go for more why not? As long as you get one a day in, sperm can stay alive in a woman for days, so you have a good chance of conceiving.

I don't know a medical answer but from the husband's standpoint, yes! It doesn't take much sperm to impregnate a woman and there are thousands in a single ejaculation. So, I would think that every night would increase your chances.

Seriously, just have sex as often as possible. If YOU are having trouble conceiving, it's unlikely your husband's sperm count will make any difference.
Please don't turn sex into a chore.
