i prefer pi. the ratio has been a mystery since the beginning of man, and phi was the golden ratio of the greek. pi=3.14159265358979323846264338..... phi=1.61803398... or (1+(square root of 5))/2

Two different things entirely. Phi is used in polar coordinates, phase angles, vibrations and can actually have different meanings in different subjects, while pi always has the same meaning.

I prefer pi to denote 22/7, and phi when an angular variable is called for. they don't serve the same purpose.
