It's an arguement my grandmother and I got into when I was 12. My logic was: If that's true, lard would be would be one of the best delicacies ever!

ps. going with the "people tastebuds are different", I'm a fan of vinegar. Pickles are my favorite snake and I'll choose them over chocolate!

Adding salt or sugar usually does the trick, but when in doubt - add the fat!

our tastebuds don't just sense for fat...so pure fat isn't as tasty as a savoury meal with a lot of different flavours that work together.

taste buds are complex, and individuals have different tastes. that's why some people love sugars and others love salts.

it's like this...maybe you love the sound of a saxophone...but you'd love it a lot more if it was a really good song with a saxophone as the key ingredient...as opposed to a solo by only the saxophone.

plus, when you cook things flavours come out. uncooked fat is hard to break down and so it doesn't taste good.

another example of this phenomenon is with potatoes. they taste terrible uncooked because the long strarch chains are hard for your body to break down. when you cook them you break those long starch chains up and they become more digestible...and they taste better.

on an evolutionary standpoint, fats do make foods taste better (when cooked) because fats are the most efficient energy storage...so, your body tastes that and goes "Yum! this is something I can use!"

actually, that is true. adding fat to your food will always make food taste better simply because we humans find the taste of fats very satisfying. Little babies tend to adore sweet taste and avoid bitterness. Same case here, fat has always proven to give us more satisfaction. Thatz why all food that taste good is fatty food (includes some kind of cholesterol). Try not taking any kind of fats for a whole year. Then have a slice of pizza! you'll know what i mean... Try deep frying a chicken and microwaving another... you can see the difference as well.

It's just like MSG, except your body can actually somewhat process fat. Lard, used sparingly does usually improve the taste of many types of food. It is due to the sodium content in the fat.

I don't know.

I like hamburgers without being put on the Foreman grill (nice and grease-filled as they were met to be).

I do cut as much fat off of a steak, porkchop, or riblets as possible though. I'm not sure its the taste so much or the texture. I don't want jello with my meat.

It depends on the food item and the type of fat. If you added too much butter to cookie dough, it would not taste any better and it would not hold together to form the cookies. Just an example.

Why do you like "fat-unfastened" foodstuff? healthful fat is substantial. human beings in this united states of america have been given fatter whilst they stopped eating butter, eating entire (non-homogenized) milk and decrease decrease back on meats. examine the e book consume fat, Lose fat. You get fat from the carbs, no longer the fat! There are undesirable fat, although, those are hydrogenated fat, and canola oil (very undesirable).

Does it make everything taste better, no. Does it make a lot of stuff taste better, yes. Fresh fruit - no, it's not going to improve the flavor, though fried apples do taste good. Most baked goods? Yes. Pasta Sauce? Yes. Fried foods? Yes.

Yes, fat always makes things taste better.

Bacon, for example.
And when you get a piece of meat from a butcher, always ask for an untrimmed piece.

Just adding a "little" fat does make things taste better. Too much of anything can be gross.
