Use shower gel, body wash, or liquid soap, none of which are soap at all but detergents. They don't leave you feeling tight and dry and sticky. Bar soap is totally different chemistry than liquids. Many would say that true soap is better for you because it is more natural but I personally can't hang with that sticky feeling either.

I have a lot of different kinds that I use, you wouldn't use them because they are girlier, but just so you know that really the formulas are much the same across brands. Pick the one that smells the best. Dial and Irish Spring, Lever 2000 make several formulas, and they have Coast, and Zest in liquid now for extra deodorant protection. You might still be able to find liquid Safeguard. They also make Axe, Tag, and Old Spice, and a Suave one just for men.

If you are head to toe with something really greasy like motor oil, your best bet is to shower OUTSIDE with Dawn dishwashing liquid. Then come inside, and take another shower with more skin friendly products and apply a body lotion to undo the stripping of your skin's necessary oils.

* Once a month, squirt of baby oil in bath water & soak; pat yourself dry (this will help condition your skin).
* Lifebouy or Safeguard bath soap bar helps remove smells.
* Lava soap bar removes heavy stains; harsh on skin.
* Dish liquid removes oil/grease stains.
* Anti-bacteria soaps will dry hands further.
* If hands extremely dry, apply full strength Rose Glycerin (in drugstores), let it soak, paper towel off excess oil, wash hands as usual. Rose Glycerin is the softening agent in hand lotions (higher percent = better lotion). Go to the main ingredient instead of various hand lotions. Heals dry cracks.
* Laundry soap; use liquid if have skin problems. Powdered soap has 'chalk' in it for an abrasive.
* Laundry soap to remove smells, use Gain. Heavy smells such as mildew, add a cup of Pine Sol or Spc N Span in washer.
* Instead of bleach in laundry, add granular Water Softener such as by Calgon.
