an election process that will reflect their individual votes instead of the system that is set in place now that uses political terms that actually diminished votes such as the electoral process. Has anyone else figured out yet that the way the process is set up now that all votes are not counted because of how the system is set up? If 20 people vote and then you look at the electoral process then all 20 people's votes just may not equal to zilch. WHen is this going to be fixed and why is it ignored? One of the greatest American lies: Your vote counts.

People think their vote doesn't count most don't even know what the Constitution says until they become informed and educated and understand that the government is to obey us not the other way around. Only then will people smarten up

Just be thankful we live in a country where we are able to vote. You would be amazed how many registered voters don't even go cast a ballot. The Electoral College has been around for a long time and one party doesn't either benefit or hinder the other party as over the last 200 some odd years both parties have won elections. An electoral college is a set of electors, who are empowered as a deliberative body to elect a candidate to a particular office. Often these electors represent a different organization or entity with each organization or entity by a particular number of electors or with votes weighted in a particular way. Many times, though, the electors are simply important persons whose wisdom, it is hoped, would provide a better choice than a larger body. The system can ignore the wishes of a general membership whose thinking may not be considered. When applied on a national scale, such as the election of a country's leader, the popular vote can on occasion run counter to the electoral college's vote, and for this reason there are some who feel that the system is a distortion of true democracy in a democratic society.

When our Founding Fathers put this Electoral College in place, it was DESIGNED to prevent a popular vote from electing a candidate that might be dangerous.

Our population was much smaller and education was available only to the upper class. Blacks and women could not vote.

Even today, a Republican Electoral may not vote for your Republican Candidate. I believe the time has come to get rid of the Electoral College

Who will listen? Congress members don't even listen to the people who put them where they are. If we don't get them out soon, they'll keep on doing exactly what they want.

It wouldn't surprise me if there was another amnesty clause, and God only knows what else, is in this latest 600-page bill they just passed. I'll bet less than a third of them know what's in it.

Let's hound them to abolish all computerized voting machines and fire Diebold and any other companies that supply them.

My mental capacity must be diminished because our views differ, but without the electoral college we'd have a system of halves and have nots (politically). NY, LA, and Chicago would get all the attention (and dollars) and places like Iowa would be completely ignored. Funny how the Left wants justice for the weak when it serves their purpose, but when it comes to gaining power they're completely against it.

If it weren't for the Electoral College, sparsely populated states like Montana and Vermont would be totally ignored. That's why it is in place.

Edit: And I'm not sure what the Thumbs Down are all about. What I wrote is the real reason the Electoral College was put in place. It is also why every state has two Senators, regardless of population.

this is a very corrupt election system we have here, even though its better than most, but often sells candidates with the help of questionable practices like Scientific Polling which only asked specific questions that will result in likely answers from likely voters, Endorsements that sell the candidates and not their ideas........There's only a small group of smart people in this country and the uninformed will cast their vote into the wind.

After the THEFT of the 2000 election by GW Bush, Hillary Clinton said she'd introduce a bill in Congress to abolish the Electoral College. Whether or not she did that, it hasn't happened yet. And it NEEDS to!! ASAP!!

But for right now, there is a far WORSE crisis facing us. Please right-click on this link and "Open in New Window" (that you can easily close afterward) to see what it is, and how dangerous it is:

Hey man, anyone who is involved in changing your mind for you (ie, placing in office the man who will give them the most) is NEVER going to change the way it is now.

Electoral college is not needed, and has NOT BEEN needed for decades.

We have no say - that's how the politicians like it.

If you don't want to vote, then by all means don't. The electoral college isn't going anywhere.
