Joe, Norton takes up a lot of unnecessary space on your harddrive and slows even a fast computer down. If you desire, you can download a FREE edition of AVG Antivirus from the site I list below. Remember to remove Norton completely, restart your computer, then load the AVG. Good luck!

Micro Trend software is above and beyond the best I've used.

Norton has too many holes in it

MacAfee was forcibly put onto all computers that connected
to the college campus' network slowed down every comp to a crawl

AVG - good, but not the best, but still free.

AVG Antivirus
Look it up online in a search engine. It is free and works.
I used to have another antivirus that i paid for and it slows down you computer, norton does the same thing. AVG runs in the background but takes up minimal memory. I have used it for 4 years and had no viruses. They have a free and a pay version but the free version works just fine.

Your question begs for other people's biased opinions. It's like asking: Which car is best: Ford, Chev or Dodge."

Only YOU can decide what is best for you. The first decision should be: Free or paid? And, "paid" doesn't mean better.

So, to find out, do a lot of online research, starting here:

TIP: The ratings change frequently, so it's even more important to find one you trust and will use DAILY.

Are you talking about Norton anti-virus I’m guessing? I use McAfee works allot better than Norton with allot more add features then it too. Never had a virus in my computer and never will with its real time protection.

I use and like a lot, AVG by Avast. It is a free program recommended by Cnet. You can get it at download.com. Check out the reviews of it and you give it a try, you might be impressed.

Take a look at Bitdefender. http://www.bitdefender.com/site/view/antivirus-comparison.html?na_usa_itxt_link=homeoficon

I switched to it about 3 months ago. I love it. I have not noticed any slow down in my system. The protection is complete and does very well.

Trend Micro is the best. It uses the least amount of resources.
Remember " you get what you pay for."
